SIR CHRIS HOY ANNOUNCES JASON KENNY IN HIS SOUTH POLE CYCLING TEAM
Sir Chris Hoy has recruited Jason Kenny to be his intrepid partner in South Pole cycling attempt.
In an interview with the Sunday Times (link is external) Sir Chris said that his wife suggested it spotting that he needed a challenge in retirement.
“When it was first suggested I thought ‘No way!’. I hate the cold and it sounded like too much hard work. You hear these stories about people losing their fingers when they’re exposed to the air and you think, ‘God, what will happen when I go to the toilet?’”.
“I’m going because I’ll get more sleep in a tent at the South Pole than with a newborn,” said Hoy. The project has the full support of his wife Sarra.

Resurrecting their Olympic spirit the team hope to beat the current 10-day world record. The route is 423 miles in total covering challenging terrain including a 3,000ft mountain range, deep crevasses and snow drifts.
Sir Chris recently discovered ice riding and posted a video on twitter of him riding a fatbike in Iceland.
“It was one of the best days I’ve had on my bike in years. It was wobbly and difficult — it brought back that feeling of being a kid again.
