Are you ready for the Tour of Britain? (Video)
It’s time for the 14h edition of the Tour of Britain. The world’s elite cyclists, including the return of Mark Cavendish, will compete in the race, which is one of the most prestigious dates on the cycling calendar.
The eight-stage 2017 ToB starts in Edinburgh, Scotland, on Sunday September 3 and finishes in Cardiff, Wales, on September 10. Last year’s race was won by Steve Cummings (Dimension Data).
In total, the riders will compete over eight days across the UK.
Other notable riders include:
• Geraint Thomas: the 30-year-old rides for Team Sky. He is a veteran of seven Tour de France and countless Classics. In 2016 he picked up the biggest win of his career at Paris-Nice.
• James Gullen: is a bronze medallist at the National Time Trial Championships and it will be the first time the 27-year old has been selected to ride the prestigious race.
• Mark Cavendish: will lead Team Dimension Data in the OVO Energy Tour of Britain as the ten-time stage winner in the race makes his comeback from injury after fracturing his scapula on Stage Four of the Tour de France.
Alexander Kristoff (Katusha-Alpecin), Tony Martin (Katusha-Alpecin), Alex Dowsett (Movistar), and Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Sky) are also all scheduled to take to the start line.
ITV4 will broadcast live coverage of the race from September 3-10, with an hour of highlights being broadcast each evening to let you catch up with the best of the action.
Eurosport will also be broadcasting some live coverage and highlights of the 2017 race.
